The Triton Poker Series is currently one of the most followed poker events on the planet and as always it has not disappointed. Poker enthusiasts have been treated to a ton of poker action with a number of professional poker players going toe to toe against each other for the huge prize monies. Now, one of the most recent highlights of the event was Jason Koon’s big win – the poker pro walked away with a whopping $2.8 million in winnings. With this, Koon has officially joined the Top 10 All-Time Live Tournament Money Earned list on The Hendon Mob with a mind-boggling $26.9 million in lifetime poker earnings.
Obviously, to make it to the top 10 in the All-Time Money List, Jason Koon had to replace someone and this someone just happened to be Phil Ivey, an equally accomplished and renowned poker star. It, however, comes as no surprise that Koon made it this far since he has been bringing his A-game to the poker tournaments and this has seen him cut through some of the high-stakes games almost effortlessly.
Koon made his debut at last spring’s Triton Poker Series which was held in Montenegro – this, as it turns out, was the very first time that the 33-year-old West Virginia native was playing Short-Deck. He, however, managed to run the ropes of the game and eventually got to the top which saw him win the HKD 1 million (which is equivalent to $127,000) NO-Limit Hold’em Short-Deck event for a whopping $3,579,836. This is the highest amount he has won on a single gaming event in his entire career – very impressive.
Triton Poker Ambassadorship
After his huge win at the HKD 1m (USD 127,000) in the No-Limit Hold’em Short-Deck event, Koon was signed as the first ever ambassador of the Triton Poker brand. As such, he will feature in each and every leg of the Triton Super high Roller Series this year’s which kicked off on March 2 in Jeju, South Korea and ended on March 9.
The Jeju event was every bit as action-packed as any avid poker fan would expect. To secure his win, Koon had to beat Paul Phua in a protracted heads-up battle that played out for quite some time. A total of 81 entrants participated in the Jeju event – 37 of them were new entrants while the remaining 44 for were re-entries.
