Needless to say, Pennsylvania’s retail and digital gaming markets are doing quite well. Its sports betting market has rapidly grown and is now one of the most lucrative ones in the United States. Parx Casino in Bensalem has been one of the biggest players in the state’s gambling industry and its sports betting offering is one of the most popular. In fact, everything has been going so well for the gaming facility that its parent company (Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment Inc.) is venturing out to other states.
Following a successful three-day test phase that ended last Friday, Parx Casino has officially debuted an internet sports betting offering in the neighboring state of New Jersey. The three-day soft-launch was overseen by the state’s regulator who then gave a verdict.
Why New Jersey?
New Jersey is, without a doubt, one of the biggest and most lucrative sports betting markets in the United States. A decent number of the casinos in the state are located in Atlantic City and a majority of them already offer both retail and online sports betting services.
In 2019, the amount of revenue generated from sports betting has increased in the state. Many gaming companies including Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment have taken note of this and are hopping on to capitalize on the opportunity. Parx Casino’s digital sportsbook will be the sixteenth one to launch in New Jersey, a move that will not only tighten up competition but also give New Jersey sports bettors even more choice.
Partnership With GAN
In Pennsylvania, Parx Casino’s digital sports betting operation is powered by European gambling technology solutions provider GAN. Greenwood Gaming &Entertainment partnered with GAN and Kambi earlier this year when it launched its Parx Casino online sports betting operation.
For the New Jersey digital sports betting venture, GAN will still be powering Parx Casino’s operations. According to Dan Smurtif, CEO of GAN, the extension of the partnership’s sports betting operation to New Jersey was a logical move especially considering how lucrative the new market is.
“This represents an incremental revenue opportunity for GAN and is a logical extension of our technology infrastructure to serve Parx Casino patrons who routinely cross the invisible border between these two populous states,” Smurtif commented.
With GAN’s technology, Parx Casino customers will be able to link their Reward Card online to their internet gambling accounts. This is great news for anyone who travels between the two states on a regular basis and would like to have a streamline sports betting experience. All in all, Parx has been in the industry long enough to be a force to reckon with. While it might not immediately dominate the online gaming market in New Jersey, it will definitely give all of the other operators a run for their money.
