WSOP Online to Host 54 Bracelet Events on GGPoker

With the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online already having started on July 1, 54 of the WSOP bracelet events will be played on GGPoker’s international platform. Starting in mid-July, players will have an opportunity to win one bracelet per day through September 6.

While GGPoker first released a rather cryptic schedule, the details have been fleshed out today. The events will kick off on July 19 and be available until the very last day of the competition, September 6. Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker’s Ambassador, also recorded a video giving some changes about the schedule.

There will be a slight change to the $10,000 No-Limit Heads-Up Championship which will be moved to August 8, Saturday from originally Sunday, August 9. Meanwhile, the platform is adding a new event on Sunday, August 9 and specifically the $150 Buy-in NLHE GGMasters WSOP Edition tournament, which is held in a freezeout format and has a $1 million in guaranteed prize money.

There have been other changes to the schedule, specifically with regards to travel rules for US players. WSOP and GGPoker are working on determining how many flights and starting days there will be for the Main Event, but all players will be allowed to enter three times at most, Negreanu explained.

Some hopes have been expressed with regards to hosting a World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas and continue the age-old tradition of the event. However, if this is not possible, WSOP will have to resort to an online format as well.

You Can’t Escape Where You Live

One particular issue in the outlined plans has been the fact that many US players actually live in jurisdictions that prohibit GGPoker. As a result, they would need to travel to another country or state to be able to participate. Pennsylvania players are among those affected as GGPoker doesn’t operate in the Keystone State.

Negreanu acknowledged that the problem existed, but he argued that players can just get an Airbnb or a hotel room and play from there. You would only need to show a proof of address, according to Negreanu

However, GGPoker specifically says that players need to show a utility bill or bank statement with the address to confirm that a player resides in a whitelisted jurisdiction. Now, either Negreanu confused the restrictions in the video or, far more likely, those restrictions will be eased up to allow US players in restricted areas to find a quick alternative and participate in the crowning event.

Claim a Promotion and Game On

Players will also be entitled to various promotions for the online events. For example, GGPoker has already introduced the WSOP Silk Road Intiative which will allow players to qualify directly for WSOP events.

As per the T&C’s of the bonus, players won’t have to worry about additional “steps or satellites.” The buy-ins for such events will range between $1.08 and $21.60, allowing players on a tight budget to still have a chance to make the big WSOP cut and compete in the multi-million events. Meanwhile, GGPoker has updated its official WSOP 2020 Online Bracelet Events Schedule.
