With Pennsylvania continuing to see a steady interest in poker, PokerStars PA has announced the Summer Series. The event will feature 38 events across 11 days between June 18 and June 28.

PokerStars PA Readies $750,000 GTD Summer Series

Pennsylvania is looking at a string of 38 events that will kick off on Thursday, June 18. Hosted by PokerStars, the event known as The Summer Series will feature a total guaranteed prize pool of $750,000, maintaining the online poker landscape busy while brick-and-mortar poker is still a no-go.

For players looking to enter, the minimum buy-in has been set at $20, but the High Roller event will ask for $500. The 38-event series will conclude with the Main Event, which will feature a $150,000 prize pool and a $200 buy-in. For those looking for less competition, the Mini Main Event offers cheaper buy-ins at $50 for a total prize pool of $25,000.

The Series First Event Kicks Off on June 18

The first event will arrive on June 18, granting players an opportunity to join any of the five Day 1 events which, together, promise a prize pool of $85,000. The events will then be followed by one of PokerStars’ signature events, the Thursday Thrill featuring a $200 buy-in.

For those unfamiliar with the format, the Thursday Thrill is a PokerStars’ special, a progressive knockout tournament with $25,000 on the line for the best players. The knockout format is, as it seems, very popular with the upcoming Summer Series as one third of all events will be played in that format.

There are also the Escalating Antes as well as a $50 No Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. Surprisingly, though, a Zoom event has not been introduced, with PokerStars deeming it not fit for a Pennsylvania crowd at this point of time.

Even when the event starts, there will be Daily Second Chance Freerolls to enjoy run between June 19 and June 27. All events will be played on PokerStars PA.

Where, When and Why Play in PokerStars PA’s Summer Series?

  • Date: June 18 – June 28
  • Prize pool: $750,000 GTD
  • Total events: 38
  • Buy-ins: $20 – $500
  • Main Event buy-in: $200 buy-in for $150,000 GTD
  • Additional events: $16,000 Daily Second Chance Freerolls

The events not mentioned here will mostly be piggybacking on the main ones and help any player looking for a smaller pool to become part of the action. PokerStars other tournaments and weekly events will run as usual during the Summer Series.

Meanwhile, online poker in Pennsylvania has been climbing up steadily. Online poker bets surged to $43.1 million in April.
